National Statistics published by HMRC show UK trade growth and a jump in UK imports in August and September 2015.
Following a decline in July, the UK import statistics indicate that these sharp growth figures will have pushed yet higher when they are next published, as current growth analysis ends in a sharp incline.
Growth in imports was greater than in exports, however the figures for both indicate an economy that is expanding well at the moment. We highlight current UK economic figures and growth in more detail in an earlier post here.
UK export growth despite the strong pound highlights how robust the UK recovery is now, alongside import growth that is currently fuelled by the currency market.
